The Youth Committee meets the first Tuesday of the month via Zoom at 10: am. All LWV Members are welcome to participate. Email the chairs to receive a zoom invite.

SOME OF OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS:
- Conduct a Voter Registration Training for high school students at their high school to teach them how to have a nonpartisan voter registration drive for their peers.
- We sponsor several local high school students to the Students Inside Albany Conference, a four day all expenses paid immersive experience with NYS government. The students have the opportunity to shadow their representatives in the Senate and Assembly.
- Running and Winning: A full day program offered every few years with local women elected officials. This program is for high school girls to learn from elected women about their journey’s, obstacles and accomplishments.
- Vote 18: High School Program reviewing the History of Voting in The US and interactive mock election ending with voter registration of students.
- VOTE 13: Middle School Program discussing the over 200-years history of voting in America followed by a mock election to get the students civically engaged in the process.
- Student Day at Suffolk County Legislature:
- Jointly sponsored by The Suffolk County Legislature and The LWV Suffolk County. We encourage our High Schools to participate in this full day educational experience on how county government works.
- Conduct periodic contests for HS students to create civic social media posts to encourage engagement, registration and voting in all elections.
